Welcome to our (delayed) week 6 update of our modern french kitchen renovation that we are doing with the One Room Challenge! We’ve had such a BIG week if you’ve been following over on my Instagram, hence the delay, but today we are THRILLED to be sharing all about our gorgeous brass hardware from our sponsor Schaub & Company!

Typically, the One Room Challenge is only six weeks long, so this would normally be the reveal post. But because of everything that’s going on with Covid right now, they gave everyone two additional weeks to complete the project and with a renovation of this size, we are 100% taking advantage of those two additional weeks!
So let’s talk hardware! Over the last number of years that I’ve been designing rooms in our home, I’ve come to really LOVE choosing hardware. Hardware feels like the jewellery of a space – the accessories that you put on that take an outfit from great to FABULOUS! It’s a way to completely personalize your space, especially if you are using stock cabinetry, like we are. It customizes your space and depending on the hardware selected, it can turn low-end cabinets and turn it into a high end look and feel!
This is EXACTLY what we were going for with our kitchen! As you know, we built our own kitchen cabinets using IKEA cabinets to help with affordability. So when it came time to select hardware, we knew it had to be a showstopper!
And that’s exactly what we found with Schaub & Company’s Haniburton Collection.
I was immediately drawn to the brass look. As you know, that was always part of our original design. I loved the mix of the square feet on the cabinet pulls mixed in with the round handle of the actual pull. It gives the pulls a very transitional feeling – marrying modern and classic designs all in one small piece of hardware! It has a very timeless feel to the hardware which is something we wanted.
The hardware itself is solid brass and has a very nice, sturdy feel to it!
The round knob was also a design I was immediately attracted to with it’s unique shape and heftiness in design.
The hardware did not disappoint at all once it finally arrived either, which you can see my reaction on my TikTok below! It’s so sturdy and beautiful and absolutely took our non-custom cabinets to a whole other level which is exactly what we were going for!

This week is the final BIG push – we are having the countertops completed (there was an issue with installation last week, so only half of them were installed), sink/faucet will be installed, pantry will be finished, and backsplash installed. Then it’s all about the finishing touches – hanging curtains, installing pendants, styling shelves and creating that gorgeous Modern French kitchen look that we’ve been after for the last six weeks!
