Hello friends and welcome to our SEVENTH instalment of the One Room Challenge! We have been participating in this online, six week renovation challenge for the last few years, having renovated the following spaces: Boys Room, Master Bedroom, Living Room, Laundry Room, Powder Room and the Boys Room again, in our new home. It’s crazy to look back and see all the work that we’ve done over the last four years in these spaces. We thank you for following along with all of these renovations and we hope that you’ve found inspiration to transform your spaces as well!
With all that is going on in the world today, we weren’t sure if we would actually participate this time around in the ORC – or even if the ORC would go ahead as planned. The organizers of the challenge decided to delay the start by a month (traditionally the Spring challenge launches early April) as well as give everyone two additional weeks, making it an eight week challenge.
I was lucky enough to get a few supplies before the pandemic hit and everyone went into lockdown, but there are definitely lots of items that I still am missing and therefore I’ll have to improvise and get creative. But that’s sometimes where the most magic happens – when you’re left to work with what you have, beautiful things can happen!
While we did renovate our daughter’s room in our old home, which we shared on the blog before, it wasn’t part of a One Room Challenge. It was one of my favourite rooms that I’ve ever done and one of the reasons why is because I hand painted the mural behind her bed! Guys – I’m NOT an artist whatsoever! Like I cannot draw to save my life, but I just decided to go for it when it came to the mural. I had a couple of patterns that I found online that I loved, a pencil and about 10 cans of paint and just went for it! I was SO proud of how it turned out – never thought I could paint something like that before!
But since we’ve moved into our new home, we haven’t done anything in our daughters room. And by anything, I legit mean NOTHING! She’s been asking since we moved in if we could makeover her space and we keep telling her it would happen but just didn’t know when.
So now, we are SUPER excited to start working on her room during this challenge. We have an awesome theme – which we can’t wait to share with you next week, but now, please enjoy these awful BEFORE pictures! I mean really ANYTHING will look better than this! We can’t wait to get started and hope you will continue to join us as we transform this space!
Make sure you come back next week to see our mood board and learn about what inspired us to choose our theme!
Love & Blessings,
