Happy Almost Summer, friends! I’m excited today to be sharing with you a simple lemon yellow and blue chinoiserie summer mantel, along with a blog hop with 20 summer mantel ideas from some of my fabulous blogger friends!
I have to be totally honest with you – my Easter mantel was still on display until I decided to swap this out this past weekend! Talk about two months overdue in taking that down! I blame it on Covid!
This summer, I wanted to keep my mantel decor simple yet fresh. I have been fixated lately on lemons in decor – they are so beautiful and cheerful. I originally wanted to do a lemon wreath for my front door but went a different direction when I couldn’t find any faux lemons.
But then the other day, I was shopping at HomeSense (on the first day that they opened) and I found a wreath that was only $12! It had this lemon wreath on the front and a white woven basket on the back. I really didn’t think the two pieces belonged together but knew that there was no way I could even find that many lemons for $12! So I grabbed the wreath and broke the two pieces apart. Then I added in some extra green foliage and some white flowers to make it a bit bigger and more lush looking. I LOVE the way that it turned out!
I’ve been collecting blue and white porcelain, otherwise known as chinoiserie for about two years now. I am so drawn into the blue and white floral patterns. I think it’s absolutely breathtaking. Almost all of these pieces are thrifted and therefore I got them at half the price you’d pay for in a home decor store. Every time I’m in a thrift store, I just look at the vases and kitchenware to see if there is anything to add to the collection.
So when it came time to setting up the mantel, I simply went around my home and into my storage space in the basement and shopped there! The only two new pieces in this entire set up is the wreath and the lemon print, which was also thrifted for only $4!
I added in a couple of yellow plates I got last summer at IKEA to add a pop of colour and height to the mantel and that’s it! It was that simple! Now I get to sit back and enjoy a fresh and friendly summer mantelscape!
Make sure to check out my friends blog posts below for even more inspiration for your summer mantel!
Love & Blessings,
Christine
