If you are a mom with young kids like myself, I’m sure you’ve noticed their ferocious appetites where they can eat just about anything in sight, right?! This isn’t the first time I’ve talked about my kids snacking habits and honestly, it probably won’t be the last. Even when shopping in bulk, I find that I simply cannot keep up with the snack-attacks that happen all throughout the day (times three kids!).
So being able to shop smart for my kids snack needs is so important to me. We do have a monthly budget for our groceries and I’ll be honest, lately, we’ve been pushing the upper limits of that due to their increased hunger! I guess it’s true that you do need to keep watering and feeding the kids for them to grow.
To help us shop smart, we always start with a list and check what’s on sale. This helps curb any additional things that may draw your attention while in-store. Side note: try not taking the kids when grocery shopping to avoid the question “Can we PLEASE have this?!” a hundred times over again!
One of the stores I find that helps me stay on budget when shopping for my family is FreshCo. They have everything that I need to help feed my family healthy snacks and meals from fresh produce to a bakery, a meat department and so much more, all while sticking to their everyday low prices. FreshCo has a low price commitment through their everyday pricing as well as a Cheaper Guarantee where they will beat the price of any competitor with their price match policy. And every time I go shopping there, I always make sure to check out their great flyer deals to see what’s on sale. For any budget-savvy parent out there, you know that shopping the weekly sales are key to staying on target!
This last week, I was able to pick up some delicious and healthy snacks for my kids at rock bottom prices. Check these out: Schneider’s LunchMate Snackers, which I almost NEVER buy due to have expensive they are, were on sale for $1.99! These are perfect to send to school with the kids or even for a road trip snack, as it’s all contained in the little compartments. And if your kids are anything like my kids, that just makes the eating experience that much more enjoyable when things are “cutely” packaged!
Or these new Dole Mixations, which is applesauce with chunks of fruits. Got them on sale for less than $3.00 a pack. My kids don’t always love eating whole fruits, but when it’s mixed in to an applesauce or yogurt, they are willing consumers.
Add in some carrots, cucumbers, freshly baked cheese buns and raisins and you’ve got your kids some of the healthiest snacks out there, while staying on budget. The kids will be fed and I will be happy, knowing they are eating fresh and (mostly) healthy products, without paying the oversized prices.
Shopping at FreshCo is what I like to call “discount done right” – you are still getting the same quality, fresh products, only with discounted prices. And that my friends, is something I can get really excited about!
If you haven’t visited a FreshCo before, I encourage you to find one in your local community and get excited to be pleasantly surprised!
