Welcome back to Week 2 of the One Room Challenge! If this is your first time here, let me catch you up on what we are doing.
Last week we launched the first week of our boys bedroom makeover that we are doing for the One Room Challenge (an online design makeover challenge where you renovate one space in your home in the course of six weeks). We shared the design inspiration for this space last week, which you can see here.
Today, we are sharing the dreaded BEFORE pictures.
Now I will say, out of ALL of the One Room Challenges we’ve done before, these before pictures are the least offensive yet. While we haven’t done anything to their room since we moved into the home, the walls are very neutral (a whiteish colour) and we still have the same beds and bedding as we did from their last bedroom makeover. So the before and after pictures won’t be as dramatic as we’ve seen in previous makeovers. But nevertheless, you can tell that there is ZERO design in this space at the moment.
As I mentioned last week, the boys have one of the largest rooms in our home – it’s like a big square box. It works really well actually for two beds on either side of the room (which is the same design we will have in the new space). But because it is a square, there are some challenges when it comes to design in terms of making things interesting and visually appealing.
Both boys dressers also broke this last year since we’ve been in the new home, so we decided to temporarily put the large Ikea PAX wardrobe in their room while we were waiting to makeover the space. It’s way too big for their room, but it was a cost effective solution (as we weren’t using it anywhere else) when we needed a temporary solution for their clothing.
We can’t wait to show you what we are cooking up, including a feature wall with paint, which we will be sharing next week plus a rock climbing wall, but unlike one you’ve ever seen before – think superhero themed!
Well, we are off to start painting! There’s still a lot to be done in this space so make sure to come back next week to see how it’s coming along!
Love & Blessings,
