Staying Ahead of Dry Skin this Winter Season

The winter is almost here (shudder) and with the blanket of snow and frigid temperatures often comes a problem that many Canadians face – dry skin.

If you’ve been following us along the blog for awhile, you know that I’ve shared my son’s eczema story and the hell we all walked through the first two years of his life dealing with dry skin. I never would have known how bad nor how painful dry skin could be for a child until we walked through it.

Thankfully for us, early detection by a dermatologist and her recommendations changed everything for my son’s life. One of those recommendations was a new product on the market called CeraVe. This was the first time I had ever been introduced to the brand and was given a small sample that was supposedly going to help fix everything.

    And boy did it ever!

Fast forward more than seven years and it is still rocking our world! As CeraVe keeps innovating and changing the game when it comes to dealing with dry skin, we keep testing out their full range of products and are always so impressed with their formulas…because THEY WORK!

The biggest difference when it comes to CeraVe is that they use ceramides which help restore and maintain the skin’s natural protective barrier. This is why our dermatologist had recommended it years ago…and this is why I still use it every single day on myself.

I’ve always struggled with bouts of eczema and dry skin. Last year you might remember my lips were badly affected for a while. I’ve had patches on my stomach as well as my neck. It seems to come and go but I find that especially heading into the winter season, my entire body feels dry when I come out of the shower. So lathering on the moisturizing cream while my skin is still damp to lock in the moisture is critical to my skin staying moisturized.

This winter I’m adding CeraVe’s SA Cream and Lotion to help penetrate deep into the skin and deal with the dry skin head on. Containing salicylic acid and lactic acid, these creams help exfoliate, soften and renew the skin. It also has a controlled time release so it will keep your skin moisturized all throughout the day.

Dry skin is something that many people deal with, especially in the winter months, but equipping yourself with the right products and using them everyday means you don’t have to suffer through it! There is hope, there is a solution! There is CeraVe!
