It’s crazy to think that we live in a culture now that is consumed with technology. In my 30something years of life, I’ve seen the shift from analog to digital, going from cell phones and computers being a luxury item that only the elite would have to becoming something that now everyone relies on, including teenagers. Even my own kids who are seven, six and three all know how to use tablets and computers and when I try to tell them about how I grew up without the internet, they don’t really understand what that means!
It’s a different world now and to be honest, I’m ok with it!
Being someone who has built a blog and social network, I have come to heavily rely on these devices to help me share with the world my creations, thoughts and ideas. Blogging didn’t really exist more than 10 years ago largely because these devices and the internet weren’t really mainstream.
As we’ve continued to grow our blog over the last three years, we’ve noticed that we are constantly needing to upgrade our gear – from camera’s to lighting to editing software.
But the one thing I’ve continued to struggle with is my mobile device! I don’t know if it’s that I just keep getting lemons or if it really is user error (which my husband thinks!), but the struggle is real folks!
Recently we went on a family vacation to Florida where we visited various theme parks and while hubby kept pulling out the big cameras, I just wanted to use my mobile device to capture quick and fun moments we were all having together. The problem was, my phone kept dying on me! Can you imagine how frustrating that is to pull out your phone for a quick video while on a ride and the whole thing shuts down?
I found myself constantly asking my husband and mom to use their newer phones. My mom even said to me at one point, “Why don’t you have a better phone Christine?! Don’t you rely on your phone daily for your blog and social media?” You know it’s bad when your Mom has better equipment than you do when your job is that one that relies on it, right?!
So as soon as I returned home from my trip, I decided enough was enough and I headed over to The Mobile Shop to get a new phone! What I love about The Mobile Shop is that it’s located in my grocery store and it carries most of the major Canadian phone carriers. As a busy mom of three kids, I don’t have time to go from store to store, comparing prices and plans. I love that as I’m shopping for my groceries, I can swing by the booth and see all the options available to me. This makes shopping for a new mobile device so much easier! We talked about what all the different options that were available for our family and they took care of all the details. It was easy and quick and very convenient.
What’s even better is that on many of the devices, you have the potential to earn PC Optimum points too! Talk about a great deal — getting your groceries, upgrading your phone and earning points!
And now we are off on another family adventure and I have my brand new phone in hand. I’m not worried about it dying or stalling out at the worst possible moment. I can now rely on my device, knowing that it will be ready for me to help capture life’s most special moments in a snap!
Love & Blessings,
Christine
