It’s hard to believe that it’s been over two months since we celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary! We had always had visions of taking a big European adventure for this milestone anniversary, but with three kids under five years old, we decided to put that off until our 15 or even 20 year celebration and instead to do a staycation right here in Toronto.
While everything we planned for that weekend was fabulous, unfortunately, the weather didn’t cooperate. It was probably the worst weather of the summer with temperatures down in the low teens and heavy wind and rain all weekend long.
The Westin Harbour Castle Toronto, which is located right on the lakeshore of Lake Ontario, in downtown Toronto, invited us to celebrate our anniversary with them. This hotel is positioned in one of the nicest locations in this city. Truly incredible views of both the lake and the city (with the CN tower being just a few blocks away).
As soon as we arrived at the hotel, we were excited to get some rest, as we had just done the Color Run that morning. We quickly realized that there was a local music festival that had been cancelled due to the extreme weather conditions and therefore, it meant hundreds of hotel guests mingling throughout the lobby of the hotel, in search of something to do. There was nothing the hotel could do to prevent the weather and circumstances that followed, but I will say, that the staff did their very best to try and handle the situation and make sure we were treated really well.
We had the privilege of staying in a Junior Suite with a lakeview! Let me tell you, what a beautiful room with an incredible view. Complete with a king size bed and a chaise for maximum relaxation, it was one of the biggest and nicest hotel rooms I’ve been in, in awhile. I so wish the weather would have been nicer so that we could really soak in the entire view that this room had to offer. Even with the clouds, though, it was still pretty majestic.
We did have to wait a little bit to get our room, due to all the extra hotel guests checking into their rooms at the same time from the cancelled festival, and so the hotel staff gifted us with $50 food vouchers to enjoy while we waited. The famous Canadian Chef Corbin works the kitchen at The Westin Harbour Castle Hotel and we were privileged to try his fish tacos and chicken drumettes. Let me tell you, every single bite was divine! I want those drumettes right now!
After we came back from our dinner cruise (which I will write about soon), we found this lovely treat in our room! Such a sweet gesture from the staff to spoil us on our anniversary with these amazing chocolate dipped strawberries!
The following morning, we woke up and enjoyed a few other local activities, including the Toronto Antique Market! Then we came back for a relaxing swim in the hotel pool. Very clean and nicely appointed area for hotel guests to kick back and truly relax!
We honestly had a wonderful time away and even though it was short, it was still relaxing and rejuvenating! The Westin has actually invited us back for another night stay in a few weeks and I’m SO excited to go! Crossing my toes and fingers that the weather is a bit better than the first time!
Thank you to Sage, Madison and the rest of the Westin Harbour Castle staff that made our anniversary weekend stay so pleasurable and memorable!
Love & Blessings,
