Save Time, Money and Your Sanity for Back to School Shopping

It’s that time of year where we shake the sand out of our beach bags and start loading up the backpacks once again for a brand new school year. The summer has come and gone and as the warm days start fading into cooler nights, it’s time to get the kids ready for back to school.

If you’ve been to any store lately that sells school supplies and groceries, you will notice a common thread in many of them – CHAOS! Especially when it comes to shopping for the latest supplies or lunch-a-bles that just went on sale. Most parents want the best deals and hottest school accessory trends, especially when shopping for multiple kids, and will stop at nothing to make sure they get it!

As a mom of three young kids, I totally get it. I shop on a budget and want to make sure I’m getting the best deals for my family of five to trying to extend our dollar as far as I can. Many of you are also price-savvy shoppers too.

But shopping at multiple stores while trying to find the best deals is just not very practical when lugging around a small (or not so small) brood of kids with you. Let’s face it, back to school shopping can be hectic, tiring and down right overwhelming.

That’s why I turn to Flipp. Truthfully, I’ve been using this app for years and have converted many friends into users because of my deep love for it. Let me take a minute and explain the basics of how it works (the app is SO amazing I can’t possibly cover ALL the features in one post…so stay tuned for more posts on more of the features in the coming months!)

Flipp is a free shopping app that brings you the latest store circulars and coupons from retailers near you, making sure that you are saving both time and money while shopping. Instead of having to physically read the various flyers that are delivered to your home or mailbox, Flipp brings your local flyers to your fingertips. You can favourite the stores closest to you and check for weekly sales. When you find an offer on an item you’d like to buy you can virtually “clip” the item with the tap of your finger. The item will automatically be added to your digital shopping list. (Hot tip! Check with your local retailer to see if they allow price matching. Many of them in my local area do, but some do not, so know before you go!)

What’s even more amazing is that Flipp offers coupons and rebates for many of your favorite items. You can check the convenient “coupons” tab to search the most current coupons or you can look at the items on your shopping list and see if any of those are on additional rebate.

Speaking of shopping list, let’s park on this feature for a minute – possibly one of my favorite features for a number of reasons. Any parent knows that creating lists are key to your success, especially when it comes to shopping for multiple kids. I know I’m not the only one who geeks out over organization, right?!

First, you can create your shopping list right there in the Flipp app. When you go to type in items, it has the cutest “popular items” icons that come up and you simply have to tap on which ones you want and they will be added to the list. Flipp will also save your list week to week helping you save time each week with those shopping lists! Once you add each item and return to your list, you can click over on the right side of each individual item and it will show you all the deals on those items at your local stores! It literally does all the work for you in terms of finding the best deals!

Now if you’re a little old school like me and you like to keep a pen and paper on hand to have an ongoing list that you can add shopping items to throughout the week, I’ve got really cool news for you! Now you can import that handwritten list into Flipp simply by taking a picture and Flipp will transcribe each item and turn it into a digital list, complete with the same price comparison features as listed above! It’s actually like MAGIC!

Let me quickly share with you a few of the price matching savings that I was able to find, while shopping for the kids lunches this last week!

    • Grapes are an absolute must for my kids’ lunches and I found them at Walmart for .97 cents a lb.
    • Next up were apples for .99 cents a lb. at Metro
    • Mott’s Applesauce was $2 for a six-pack
    • Finally, Astro yogurt was $1.97 for a 750ml container

That my friends, is just the beginning features of what I love so much about Flipp! If you haven’t downloaded the app yet, I’m not sure what you are waiting for! It’s free and available for iOS and Android.

Get ready to save time, money and ultimately your sanity by using Flipp this back to school season!

    Happy Shopping!

    Love & Blessings,
