A few weeks ago, I was invited to come and explore various cities in southern California, including the Palm Springs area. I’ve never been to this part of the world and one spot I knew I always wanted to check out was Joshua Tree. Living in Toronto, we are miles away from any kind of desert, let alone actual joshua trees.
So we packed up and set out on an adventure, just under an hour from Palm Springs. The ride alone was so scenic through the San Bernardino mountains, seeing all the wind turbines and the desert vegetation.
There are two areas to enter Joshua Tree National Park – one through the town of Joshua Tree and the other through the town of Twentynine Palms, the more easternly entrance. That’s where we headed, grabbed a map and set out on an adventure.
Before we left for Joshua Tree, I knew that I wanted to do a photo shoot while we were there as I imagined the scenery would be magnificent! And sure enough, it was even better than I imagined!
This green faux velvet dress was a recent purchase that I happened to find on clearance. It is the most comfortable swing dress I’ve ever owned. I love the deep forest green color and thought it especially worked in the desert!
I paired it with long floral print kimono that had two slits up the sides. To be totally honest, I found this kimono in the sunglasses section at a big box store. You know one of those random finds that someone has clearly just left randomly in the store?! I loved it right away, tried it on and it fit! I love the way it pairs with this dress.
To finish off the look, I threw on a pair of gold ankle booties! The comfiest boots I’ve ever owned and they actually faired pretty good considering I was climbing on rocks in the desert!
While we brought my DSLR camera to capture the entire experience, I also had my new mobile device on hand. If you can remember from my last post, I talked about the need to upgrade my phone after a family trip to Florida. I knew before I headed to California that I had to be prepared.
I can’t tell you how many times on this entire trip that I set aside the big camera and simply used my iPhone 8+ that I got at The Mobile Shop. I absolutely loved my experience shopping there, even with three kids in tow! How many moms can say that when shopping for a mobile device?!
Because The Mobile Shop is located in select grocery stores across Canada, we made a quick pit stop down the snack aisle, so that the kids wouldn’t be hungry while I was dealing with my phone. Bonus was that The Mobile Shop was also conveniently located right beside a seasonal toy display, so the kids had tons of entertainment on hand!
When I was changing my phone over this time, I also made the decision to change carriers, after only ever being with the same carrier for years. I was a little nervous about how the switch would all go, as I only had ever gone directly to my previous carrier to upgrade my phones before. But at The Mobile Shop, they have all major carriers and know exactly which phones are the best prices for what I needed, after they did an assessment about my mobile device needs and could take care of the entire switch over – even making sure I still kept my same phone number!
In less than an hour, we were on our way with everything set and ready to go, new device in hand! Even better is that you have the potential to earn hundreds of PC Optimum points on certain devices and plans! And any parent that buys weekly groceries for kids know how precious those points can be to help with the monthly budget!
I couldn’t be happier with my new mobile device and while I wouldn’t say it replaces our DSLR, I will say that it comes pretty darn close to producing just as high quality, amazing images!
Are you ready for spring/summer adventures with a new mobile device?! Don’t be caught with a faulty phone like I was in Florida that dies at the worst possible moment! If you are planning to upgrade, head into The Mobile Shop today to check out all the options available!
Love & Blessings,
