A New Season for Amidst the Chaos

The day is FINALLY here where I get to share with you some really, really exciting news! This has been something that’s been in the works for over a year. In fact, it was late in 2016 that I looked over at my husband and said, “YOU should blog WITH me!” He wasn’t 100% sold on the idea when I first presented it to him and to be honest, the timing just wasn’t right, so we didn’t move forward with it.

But over the last year, Chris has naturally started to get more and more involved with the blog as well as my YouTube channel. Every time he shows up on the blog, people seem to comment about how much they enjoy reading or watching his stuff. Even as we’ve talked to various PR agencies, we have recognized the need for more millennial dad influencers out there and realized that there was not only a spot for Chris in the blogosphere but a need.

So, without further ado, I want to formally introduce my husband Chris as the newest official member and partner at Amidst the Chaos!

    Insert happy dance!

This blog has evolved over the last three years that I’ve been running it – starting out as really a therapeutic place for me to come and share my feelings, my various DIY creations and a place to connect, as a way to cope and heal form postpartum depression. I knew I wanted to monetize it from the start but had no idea how that was going to happen. By the second year, I had started to catch the attention of some major brands and the sponsorships started rolling in, which naturally started to change the blog’s look and feel somewhat. With sponsored posts came the addition of more of my husband and children as many brands wanted posts that were family-oriented. My crew really enjoyed being a part of the blog and so our content, both sponsored and non-sponsored, started to shift more to family.

Overtime, I started feeling more and more like we needed to transition the blog from just ME to WE, including both my husband and kids to reflect what was happening within the posts and videos we were already sharing. The blog had this beautiful “momma” vibe going on, which I loved (still love) but it just wasn’t reflecting what WE were about anymore.

So today not only marks the day we officially incorporate Chris to the team, but also marks a complete rebrand and overhaul of the blog. We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to get a new logo designed that represents more of what we are about. The original idea was for coffee stains, but I’ll be totally honest, every stain we tried to work with just looked like poop! HA! Yup…I said it! So we decided a wine stain would be more visually appropriate and still reflect what we and what I know millions of other families walk through on a day to day basis – CHAOS!

It’s a bittersweet day for me and I’ll be honest, I have some nerves about it. This blog became a sacred space for me and it was just mine. Something I built from scratch and had full creative license to do whatever I wanted with it. I didn’t need to ask for anyone’s input on it…if I wanted to change something, I just did. If I wanted more pink, I just did it. If I wanted to blog about a certain topic, I just wrote it.

But in order to reflect the blog that we truly have and to show where we are going, it needed to be changed.

Right now, our audience is 90% female and 10% male. To be honest, I’m shocked there’s even 10% males reading it as it is. However, every time I had Chris do something or share, his buddies would always read and be intrigued. Whenever we talked to friends in real life about simple things like what Chris’ favorite kitchen tools were or his recipes or how he changed his own light switches, etc, people would ALWAYS ask “how do you do it.” It was those very same questions that sparked a lot of my early content from various tutorials to my wildly popular Christmas tree decorating tutorials.

So with all of that said, I’m super excited to bring my life partner on as my blog partner in an official capacity. He still has his full-time job, so it will still be this momma running lots of the behind the scenes work, but there will be lots of Chris infused into it from tutorials on various recipes (he’s the main cook in our home, btw) to different how-to’s around the home to personal anecdotes and reflections from a father’s point of view.

Welcome to the new era of Amidst the Chaos – still trying to find beauty amidst the chaos, but now with a full family on board for the ride!

    Love & Blessings,

    CMartin-Sign
